"Dreams From The Trees"
Written by Lewis/Quarmby
Produced by Kevin Bacon and Jonathan Quarmby for Manna Productions
This song appears as a "B-side" to some singles for "Drowning In Your Eyes." It also appears on the German 12" single and CD single for "World Between Us." It's a really great mid-tempo song, featuring great instrumentation.
"Love Spirits Haunts Our Hearts" (English version of "Deixe Como Está"):
This rare song was recorded by the group EXPRESSO around 1987. Ephraim Lewis sings on lead vocals. Very special thanks to Paulo Roberto Back <paulback@matrix.com.br> for providing this song.
"Eldon Street"
Ephraim Lewis sings on background vocals (along with John Reilly) on this rare track by a group called BOY ON A DOLPHIN. The song is called "Eldon Street." There are a couple of parts where you can clearly hear Ephraim's beautiful vocals. In August of 2000, Tim Strickland sent me these notes on BOY ON A DOLPHIN:
The Boy On A Dolphin album was a project Kevin Bacon and Jon Quarmy undertook before Ephraim's album. It was recorded under very different circumstances. The band were backed by a local business man with Canadian connections and booked a number of sessions in Axis, Sheffield, whilst Tim Strickland was managing the studio. The sessions were ambitious and expensive for a local Sheffield band. However through the Canadian connection the band some how made contact with a manager the East coast. The connection was with the then and possibly current manager of Bryan Adams. Boy On a Dolphin moved for a while to Canada after the record was licensed to Atlantic Records in either the States or Canada. Needless to say Boy on a Dolphin returned to the UK after a few live dates and possibly some TV. They still play around Sheffield and are well established drawing audiences of two and three hundred. Finally Kevin and Jon produced other albums which had an impact in the UK and Europe, notably Finlay Quaye and the Long Pigs. I am not sure what impact they had in the States. You may have come across the Longpigs as they released their debut album on Mother (U2's record label). The drummer in the band Dee Boyle, played on Ephraims album as did I suspect the guitarist Richard Hawley. Whatever, they were pretty close friends, and were amongst the members of the party attending Ephraim's funeral.
